I’m sure a few people guessed the inevitability of this weeks review…..Because if one has a Yurio figure then surely one must review said figure. I like this franchise, I love this character, so let’s give him a once over shall we?
I love Yuri’s hair. It’s sooooo poofy that it’s almost amazing. I love the way his bangs fall into his face, it makes his long locks frame chubby cheeks perfectly. His mouth is just barely open and his eyes on this faceplate are set forward in concentration. The shades of blueish green used for his eyes are beautifully blended together.
His outfit is…..well it looks nice, but ummmm entirely inaccurate, I mean would it really have been so hard to paint the black crisscross lines that they indented on the outfit but just didn’t color. And why is it so hard to paint a shiny outfit shiny? Is a little bit of sparkle on a figure skating outfit really so hard to grasp? Nope try slightly pearlescent off white. Not cool Orange Rouge not cool.
His pants I’m willing to be generous about and not complain too much. I like that the pattern goes all the way around the back and then down on to his legs. There’s no point in complaining about the lack of dark paint on the ball joint because that’s a thing to expect with action figures. Period. However keep it in mind when posing your own Yurio.
His hair looks really good from the back the layering is nicely done. Especially down by the nape of his neck. Nicely done!
I suppose there’s no point in further complaining about how the entirety of Japan clearly ran out of black paint before they finished this lil nendoroid. That continued gripe aside though the layering of shirt over pants looks pretty good. I’m very fond of how the cut of the shirt looks.
This is going to sound weird because this is nendoroid we are talking about here…..but if they can give nendos boobs that I think this is a valid point (I can already here my husband and sister laughing at me) Yuri’s pants should be significantly tighter around his butt. Yes I do realize I’m still talking about a nendoroid and yes I also realize but I don’t get why we’re allowed to have Raiden’s naked little but none of Yurio’s outfit is allowed to be accurate??????
From the side his hair looks remarkably similar from the side as it does in the back……
He does have a tiny little bit of curve at his waist, but not quite enough for Yuri’s petit form. Hmmmmm……
Of course his skates are allowed to be painted black because why not? Grumble grumble……. oh sorry ummm yeah the skates look decent but yet again the space on the blade that should be cut out not only isn’t but is painted the same color as said blade.
Yurio has a handful of different poses, some that work better then others. This for example is a failure fairly epic proportions. His hands don’t stay together at all. Maybe I’m doing something wrong?
From the side though where you can’t see the epic fail of his hands not touching, it looks really good.
Next is a one off joke involving cat ears. The angry face that accompanies it is adorable. I love the furrowed eyebrows. also surprisingly the headband fits on his head remarkably well.
Then there’s the wide eyed distressed face as Yuri tries to share a Katsudon pirozhki with Yuri Katsuki. The very idea of him blushing and stammering is enough to make this one a winner. Also the little sweat drops are precious.
The pirozhki with the bite taken out of it is a very nice touch as well.
So Yurio comes with three different faces, but two of them have barely any difference. Oooh slightly more slanted eyebrows!
And a break down of accessories shows nine arms, one bent leg, two normal legs, and a headband. It’s a little sad, but acceptable.
Was this really too much to ask for????????
Anyways do I recommend this nendo? Hahahaha no not really. It’s cute but so inaccurate that it makes me want to rip my own hair out……
