Welcome back to SIMON ladies and gentlemen today, I’m going to show off another amazing offering from everybody’s favorite company Good Smile!
Yes that’s right the nendoroid after parts. With animal parts currently being modeled by Lily and Gakupo. Aren’t they just the cutest? And they really truly are….until you actually start looking at them.
But let’s take a closer look at Lily. Every time you finally get the plastic partition in her hair it falls right back out and it’s because 1.) this is a really crappy attachment piece 2.) she has an even hair part so there isn’t anything to help hold it in place. The ears attach to the plastic at the top. It’s really kind of lame.
If you really force it though and then never move your figure again they will stay in place… kind of.
Gakupo’s hair on the other hand works really well. The uneven part of his hair as well as the matte finish on it makes it stay in place a lot better. He’s also showing of the kitty paws option which is plainly put adorable. I completely dig how this looks.
To make the tail work halfway decent you either need a figure with a long skirt or to start folding the pieces in ward so they’re hidden by the waist joint. That’s what I had to do to turn Gakupo into a proper little kitty cat.
Lily’s tail on the other hand hangs loosely down from her waist. This time I didn’t fold it over allowing the tail to hang down loosely past the bottom of her outfit.
The bunny options are just as fantastic, the ears attach the exact same way and surprisingly don’t fall over from the weight. The bunny paws also attach by removing the hand and inserting them nice and easy.
So right now your wondering, “but do they have bunny tails?” the answer is…..kind of. You see the wonderful folks at GSC included tails and this horrible sticky substance to attach them. The problem is it doesn’t hold worth a damn. Pretty lame.
Our representation of angel and devil today will be Nao and Nyaruko. As with the two previous entries both the halo and the horns attach view bangs removal.
As you can see the halo clips to the to of the plastic pieces so it will ‘float’ above the characters head.
Now I’m sure some of you have noticed by now that I have her wings on backwards. That is because Nao is an older nendoroid. This is my representation of how new parts just weren’t made to be compatible with older figures at all.
Over here at café hell though Nyaruko is almost as bad. Because of the style and shape of her hair the wings don’t work with her at all either. So really your best bet is a newer figure with short hair.
And with the way the wings attach they’ll never actually look like a part of the figure, they are way too far back making the whole thing look kind of awkward.
Then there are the added base parts. The little pink music notes, stars, sun, and moon all attach a lot easier then I actually thought they would.
So since GSC managed to fail at making accessories for their own figures let’s see how they did for their competitors. The horns actually attach rather easily to the chibi arts line really easy. The wings are not compatible at all, but they rest really easily between CC’s hair and back.
Because of how bumpy his bangs are though it was fairly difficult to turn Barnaby into a bunny. Now my Kotetsu chibi art can act like a moron around him.
Then there’s this which is just a crying shame. Not only does the hair piece attach better, but the paws fit in perfectly as well and the tail attaches really easy too. It makes for a really awesome display. Because Mana could afford to get any cuter.
There’s something way wrong with how these accessories work better on a cu-poche then on your average nendoroid.
Even the wings work with the cu-poches.
Oh yeah they also come with these two really boring really non descript cats.
This is a great representation of how many Jack Frost’s I’ve killed over the years. A pity I couldn’t use the halo with him.
So at least this does give us a few fun options like having the moon behind Iron Man as he flies.
Or allowing Kirito and Asuna to mate like bunnies.
