Hello ladies and gentlemen welcome back to Megaten Monday. Today we’re going to take a moment to remember that there are in fact series in the Megaten multiverse that do not have Persona in the title. So without further ado may I present to you. Digital Devil Saga.
The very first thing you see upon starting up a new game is this large tower enveloped in fog. It’s huge, kinda makes me think a little of trying to reach the heavens.
And the follow up to that is our titles protagonists crouched behind rubble. Most of them have some form of visible weaponry on hand.
The first of our characters that we get a really good look at is Argilla, the groups sniper and at the start the only woman. She’s keeping a close eye on something via the scope on her rifle.
The second character we get a peek at has an electronic binocular eye piece. This is the stories main character Serph.
It’s through Serph’s eyepiece that we get our first glimpse at what’s actually going on. It looks like there’s something large mixed in with the rubble down there.
It also looks like a rival is present. His name is Harley. I’ve never been particularly fond of that name……
The text is completely illegible but not that we’re getting a closer look it becomes apparent that it’s some form of tentacle egg that we’re looking at.
As Serph signals to the other members of his little group we see our third party member, this time it’s the redhaired Heat.
After Heat in quick succession we also get to see Cielo…..
Before Serph signals to move out.
It’s also in this moment that Argilla graces Serph with a few quick words of advice.
Before Serph runs down to aid his comrades.
It seems he’s the one who makes it the closest to the strange tentacle egg…
Before the tentacles start moving….
And a message goes out warning both the Vanguards…
And the Embryon to get the egg off of this territory…Seems no one knows who it belongs to….
Because a strange unidentified tentacle egg thing isn’t strange enough you can see that it has now begun to glow as well.
So speaking of glowing, the egg then rapid fire breaks apart sending those whisps of light all over the place. They seem to be flowing directly into the characters.
And not just your characters but everyone who was there.
It’s after this strange light fades that the camera you’ve been viewing this opening through starts to get really fuzzy…
And shows some really effed up shit.
And one lone monster standing amongst the carnage.
It’s after this screen fades out that we find Serph laying on his back in the rain.
While Gale ponders over why none of their enemy unit the Vanguards are still there.
And Argilla makes a startling announcement that she’s in pain.
And Serph has this strange mark on his face that was not there before.
It also seems that were the egg was there is now a naked girl…..hmmmm……
And Heat is curious.
I’m not sure Serph feels but…okay. And thus they pluck the naked girl out of the glowing hole in the ground and take her home with them. Yeah like you would a puppy.
Our next scene opens with The team seemingly concerned about this young woman as our first line of dialogue is Cielo asking how she is.
She however is still sleeping, Argilla is concerned about something else all together, the girl had no identification in the form of a ‘tag’ ring.
Gale is unconcerned about the girl and more worried about the battle and what the strange markings on their skin are.
Heat states that he will visit the Vanguard territory, they were there as well so thet may have answers.
For not being the team leader Heat sure is willing to tell me what to do…
Still Argilla volunteers to be our third.
Even though she still doesn’t feel well.
So next week I suppose we’ll see what the Vanguards have to say.
