Way back in 2004, Sega had a new really unique figure idea, they made this Rei and a matching Asuka naturally. Three years later this idea was brutally ripped off by Good Smile Company. Well anyway let’s take a closer look shall we?
Rei has a very nice looking head of hair. As always the light blue locks frame her face nicely, but that’s a little bit weird dontcha think? I’m mean her hair should be falling away from her face because she’s laying down. She’d have to use some mega badass hairspray for it to maintain that shape. Her face leaves a little to be desired. I mean her face looks good, but for a pose that’s supposed to be sexy, there’s nothing desirable about her expression. Like she was paid to lay there and look sexy. I think it’s because there’s nothing to her mouth. Just a thin red line.
Her shirt is open to about the mid way point. It was clearly designed that way though since the bottom half has buttons and the top does not. The shirt does look pretty good at a glance though. The wrinkles on it are nice and do give a nice lounging effect. Her boobs however, they aren’t lounging properly at all. You see when a woman is laying down like this her boobs are naturally going to go to the sides a little bit. They should follow the curve of her shirt more. Also the one on the right with how much is visible should have a nipple visible. This is the problem with clones nowadays. No nipples.
The shirt does cling decently to her frame though for being a wrinkled mess. And bonus at last she isn’t wearing a tie like some figures attempts at sexy. One arm is down at her side. I think the laxness in her hand is honestly probably the most inviting thing about this figure.
She’s wearing a simple pair of white panties, briefs cut it looks like. This figure of Rei doesn’t have anywhere near a nice enough derriere for it to really be appealing though.
Her legs are decent, but I they could have used a little definition at the knees. Still though her thighs are a good size and her calves are well shaped.
Her toes look kind of short and stumpy.
Her other arm is bent back behind her head, cushioning her head just a little bit. This hand is in a loose fist. It looks pretty good but I do think it would have looked more natural had this hand been relaxed like the other one. Her profile is really questionable, there is no gap between the bottom of her nose and her mouth. That’s freakishly unnatural. Stupid clones.
The seam line on the side is horrendous. I mean wow at least make the two parts fit together yeah?
Her background is what I believe is supposed to be a bed sheet made of clear slightly frosted plastic. It has an amplitude of wrinkles surrounding her thin frame. In the background of the sheets is a city. You can see glimpses of a full moon, a tall building, and a tree covered in Christmas lights. I’m not really sure what it actually has to do with anything, but it does make a very nice backdrop. The frame is set in a nice dark blue, it makes a nice contrast to the light colours we’ve come to expect from her figures. The frame has a nice design carved into it, that surprisingly does not have any Eva references hidden anywhere on it.
The back is exactly what you would expect from a picture frame. It can be hung up or you can place it on your shelf with the convenient stand option.
Overall conclusion. Okay but Rei has hundreds of figures, some of which actually pull off sexy. Unlike this one.
Doesn’t Have to take up shelf space
Good Structural integrity
Not very sexy
