Sooo…. I’ll be perfectly honest I had a lot of issues with the last Sailor Moon figure that I bought, so I decided to seek greener pastures….elsewhere. So in the name of the moon, let’s review Great Eastern Entertainments Sailor Moon.
I’ll start off by saying her meatbuns are fantastic, the paint could be a bit better but it’s close enough to be acceptable. The definition on the actual hair looks really good. Serena’s face is adorable, she’s got huge blue eyes that make her look just like her anime counterpart. I think her face looks really good, but whereas I think her eyes are the perfect size for happy Sailor Moon the sculpt doesn’t quite match up with the decals. Then there’s her mouth, she’s clearly set in her “in the name if the moon I’ll punish you pose”, but she’s smiling. That’s kind of odd. Her choker looks really nice. The top of her sailor fuku looks good, the white trim on the collar is clear and crisp and the vibrant red of her bow is exactly how I remember it from the years of my youth. Her brooch however spills just a little bit of yellow paint on the otherwise brilliant shade of red.
Serena’s arms look pretty good for her specifically. She looks thin and noodly which is exactly what I expect from her. The pose is one of her most memorable, it’s the finisher to her “In the name of the moon” pose. Her hands look great and I really dig the wrinkles at her wrists. the poofy red bands around her elbows look awesome.
Serena’s skirt is attached to the white part of her outfit, there’s a small spot on the left side where the white paint overlaps the blue of the skirt. The pleats looks pretty good though almost like they’re being ruffled by a slight breeze. Her legs show sizable meaty thighs and yet again in tune with the art style of S.M. her legs show no muscle definition.
The area at the top of her boots could have been painted a bit better, the white trim looks a little too thin on the right boot and the moon on the left one is a little bit off as well.
Her feet look fine but don’t show a whole lot of detail, I’m glad they aren’t strippertastic this time regardless.
I rather like the way they did her earrings, the sculpt and paint is good on both. She looks pretty good from both sides, the curve of her spine is accentuated nicely and the puffed out sleeves look marvelous. I love how her twin tails look kind of twirled to, it’s a very nice effect.
I like the part in her hair quite a bit. It shows the pull of how her hair is tied back. The lines on the back of her fuku look great.
I love the sculpt of her ribbon it looks mega cute.
Her box is super fantastic. There’s an adorable picture of anime Sailor Moon down in the bottom corner. The pink used for the box is nice, very good choice for a magical girl. In a darker shade of pink there are the symbols for the different scouts. It’s pretty nice.
Overall I’m really thankful that I got my hands on this little lady. I was really dispassionate about the Figuart and the Zero one with her stripper boots has me less then excited. I’m glad to have in my collection a Sailor Moon figure as I remember her from my childhood.
