I doubt it comes as much of a surprise to people that this week we start off with a confrontation with Joker himself. Ooh spooky! Well let’s hop to it eh?
So our group of three intrepid heroes run out of the Principal’s office and right smack dab into their very first demon.
I really love this games character descriptions before you run into them. young man, old man, mysterious voice. Do they really need the vague description? Can’t it just read Man’s Voice like any other video game.
Well I would guess that this feeling is either, fear or a Persona resonance.
Okay, so I have to say that this incarnation of Joker is way creepier then that….well whatever the hell it was Jun stuck on his head. It’s a blood smattered paper bag with a creepy smile drawn on it. If you watch the opening cinema you’ll see the mouth move to form a creepy smile. It also seems to have one eye hole poked out.
Who on earth could possibly have had a big enough grudge against Maya to use the Joker curse on her. Well whoever they are I hate them.
Ooh now we’re getting somewhere. The Joker is a man with long scraggly blonde hair that very clearly existed on the ‘Other Side’. That narrows our options down to…well one. Tatsuya Sudou.
So this is very clearly where we end up gaining our starting personas. know that Maya’s will be the Goddess Maia, but I have no idea what exactly Katsuya and Ulala will each respectfully have.
Admirably Katsuya knows the criminal number by heart. Sadly the crimes he lists do not involve the blatant murder of the principal or the obvious cult involvement, but possession of firearms. That’s just sad.
Oh good lord that’s awkward, Helios looks like a cat. Why on earth would Helios look like a cat? Helios was the Greek deity of the sun for goodness sake.
Callisto was a nymph in greek mythology whom Zeus forced himself on. She was the the one who would become the star constellation Ursa Major. Interesting dontcha think?
The last to gain there persona is Maya, as expected she does indeed gain the persona Maia. Maia was in fact the eldest of the Pleiades sisters and is in fact the mother of Hermes.
Unless I’m mistaken, and I could be it’s been awhile, but I think this is pretty much the exact same thing that Jun said to the party in the first game. Of course these sweet villains are nice enough to not out and out kill the party. No they are more then willing to let me go train for 98 levels.
No but I can kick fate’s ass.
It’s shortly after this that Maya and the party pass out. During this time Maya sees images flashing before her eyes, these include various people from the first game, the most prominent of these images is Tatsuya. Maya is already starting to remember.
Waking up again the group find themselves somewhere they’ve never been before, or at least somewhere most of them have never been. They are greeted by a masked man that we all know and hate.
Yep that’s right it’s Philemon. This guy sucks so hard. Personally I think he’s a disgusting individual that fell to temptation, but hey that could just be me. I mean seriously though a bet? With Nyarlathotep? Recently I watched a show where a little boy told his mother that good can never beat evil and the reason is because good has to play by the rules. This guy being the “good” aspect of the human conscience should have been able to figure that one out.
Very good Katsuya, don’t acknowledge any of the mystical mumbo jumbo you’ve seen thus far and write it all off as a dream sequence.
Like a God or a Devil, it is another self. That has o be a mistranslation because that sentence makes zero sense. Shouldn’t it be more like, “A persona is mask that you wear, deep in your heart exists the power to be like a god or a monster. This is a reflection of your true self. That is what a persona is.”
No shit Sherlock.
He’s breaking up, but I’m gonna guess that what he’s trying to say is “Only you can save this side”
You know one of the coolest things in IS was the optional story arc about lighting a spark in human hearts with music. They sang a song from the top of the school roof and rekindled humanity’s faith. That was a way cool side story. Sorry just what I thought of while typing this.
Before asking if everyone’s alright Katsuya is already back on the phone reporting in about the incident. Thanks a lot Mr sensitive.
At least that was slightly reasonable. Looks like Katsu just permanently joined the party. Of course he’s still intent on going after Anna.
Joker, Ulala, he’s called Joker. His real name unbeknownst to you guys is Tatsuya Sudou and he is in fact an idiot. Regardless though if Joker does ‘contract’ killings, then someone had to make the contract in the first place right?
See! Told ya so.
I would start some awesome rumors about myself. Like hey did you here that Tekizen recently got a winning lottery ticket, or was engaged to Kazuki Kato. That kind of thing.
And yet you wrote of talking to Philemon as a dream.
Didn’t we already go over this?
Katsuya tries to give the girls the guns that Sudou threw at them, Ulala insists that she doesn’t need them. She’d rather punch demons rather then shoot them. I can’t say I agree with this logic.
Katsuya tells Mrs Smith to keep the students in their classrooms. After all demons and a mass murderer are no reason to panic.
It comes as no surprise to anyone that we found what we where looking for in a very familiar old room. Yeah you guessed it, it’s the same place we fought Hardy in Is and met Jun’s father for the first time. The clocktower.
It seems Anna fled here with Sudou close on her heels. Of course she’s backed into a corner, but she’s also still denying that she had anything to do with the Joker curse.
That’s not why he’s after her though. He’s chasing her because she was his partner in crime in IS. She also turned over a new leaf near the middle end of the game. I’m still sticking with her being uninvolved.
Ah and what do you know instead of being a man and confronting the problem (us) directly, sudou sends hench demons after the party. Ah well I love boss fight exp.
After the fight he knocks out not only Anna but the whole of the party as well with a well executed sleep spell.
Whatever he may have been planning though is interrupted and as Maya tries to regain consciousness we hear the sounds of clashing metal. Deja-Vu Boy perhaps?
And confirmed. He actually carries Anna back down to the same level as the party. And laments that Joker got away.
Tatsuya decides to be the first person in the game to open up your map options a little bit. Go to Aoba the detectives there can help.
He hands Maya a Sevens patch and tells her to spread a rumor that completely counters the disfiguration rumor from the first game. Anyone with one of these patches will be safe even from the Joker. Good touch Ta-chan. Of course that was his emblem he gave her…then again though I bet he never even took his own safety into account.
That is not going to happen. And we all know it otherwise shortest RPG ever.
Criminal 501, Joker, Old Maid, you know the more names you attach to this the more people are going to talk about it which is of course counterproductive.
Bad plan Katsu, bad plan!!!!!
And wham bam the police officially think he’s crazy. For that matter he’s just been compared to his father who was fired from the police force for being corrupt. Ouch.
And that is why he’s going to do an independent investigation….with Maya and Ulala, and probably Tatsuya too for that matter.
Now might be a good time to take a break in the Bahamas…..
Oh there’s that unofficial thing. I’m pretty sure that no one’s really surprised by that.
I’d almost guessed that they’d forgotten about that by now. And seriously Deja Vu boy is a really lame name to inflict on someone.
Ulala officially dubs Katsuya to be : “Sideburns” another name I wouldn’t want to be saddled with. I really think this guy is going flip when he finds out it’s his little brother that saved them.
And with that next week we’ll hit up Kuzonoha Detective Agency. See you then.
