One of the two leading ladies of Mawaru Penguindrum, Takakura Himari is as cute as they come. She’s the sweet sickly type and thinks that merely being able to have breakfast with her family is bliss. Himari is in other words the perfect catalyst character.
Himari is a perfect example of a odeki fetish, the part in her hair gives off a great view of her large forehead. Her purple eyes are huge, but I think they look like they were placed too far down. There’s a small smile gracing her pallid face.
She’s garbed in a rather poofy blouse, it’s kind of akin to Teddy from Persona 4 https://somewhereinthemidstofnowhere.wordpress.com/2012/12/07/teddy-nendoroid/ in frontal design. The buttons are well placed and the ruffles look pretty good. I’m particularly fond of the sculpt of the ribbon holding her collar closed, it looks very nice. Her hands do leave a little bit to be desired, they look almost more like claws rather than fingers which is kind of creepy. I like the concept though of her holding the apple.
Her skirt is surprisingly thick which makes it look kind of chunky, the after effect of this is making her look chubby. She’s supposed to be the pale sickly dying girl, not a tub of lard. I do however like the blown effect on her skirt, it doesn’t look sharp or awkwardly angled which can be a problem with windblown clothes.
Her boots are adorable, they are lightly tanned and go almost all the way up to her knees. There is a pattern etched into the front of the boots. The wrinkles around the ankle look nice and properly placed. I really think her footwear is super-duper cute!
Because you can’t see as much of her forehead from this angle the fact that her eyes are too low isn’t actually that apparent. It actually leaves her looking really cute. I like the hair curving over her forehead and the fact that it looks tucked behind her ear. Her blouse has a few well placed wrinkles around her elbow. The lines on her shirt could have been painted better but they don’t look that bad. The cuffs are tight around her wrists and poof out again into cute little ruffles.
The skirt does possess a seam line down the side that I am not fond of in the least. Her boots have clasps on the top of them, a very nice touch.
The top of her head lacks significantly in definition. The bottom is a bit better about it though, her hair has a nice wind blown effect that matches well with her skirt. I also like the thickness of the strands, it keeps them from having that nasty tentacle look.
The back of her skirt has a nice bubbled effect, making it look slightly blown, but not as drastically as the front of her skirt where more fabric was gathered.
Her hair seam is pretty bad, but it is forgivable. I’ve seen a lot worse.
The apple in her hands is a KIGA brand apple. It has on it a little sticker labeling it as such. The mark on the apple is well painted, the apples stem however not so much.
The base is a plain black circle. It’s taller than I would have expected it to be, but given that Himari chan is a fairly short character it’s not too much of a surprise.
Her box is really cute. It’s pink and white. It also has a picture of Himari and Penguin no. 3 on the front. Himari’s clad in her pajamas and holding out her hand to you. Super duper kawaii!
Overall she’s kind of cute, but the overall quality is pretty poor. For a better figure of Himari, you’ll have to pave a bit more then this little lady cost.
