Persona 1,2,3, and 4, Nocturne, DDS1 and 2, both Devil Summoners, I love Megaten games….a lot. And the most well-known face amongst those games is this little guy here. He’s a low ranking ice spirit by the name of Jack Frost and today he’s coming to us as a nendoroid.
Out of all the nendos I’ve had the pleasure of playing with, this one is probably the most simplistic. His eyes are a straight black, no pupils needed. His large grin is accentuated by two sharp little fangs. In summary his face is simple, but perfect. His hat is not removable because Jack only has one face, you’ll never need to worry about switching face plates. The tails on his hat are jointed so you can move them should you choose to.
His body is equally simplistic. It’s really white. Around his neck he wears a blue collar that kind of reminds me of a court jester. He’s also wearing, as irony would have it, snow boots. Figure that one out…..
On the tails of Jack’s hat you can see injection marks along the seam. It looks pretty foul on close inspection, but is barely even visible unless you know what you’re looking for.
I’ve always been a fan of Jack’s stubby little fingers. I think they are so cute. This is also the first glimpse we get of his crooked little tail, it’s cute, it also slides out easily for base installation, but we’ll come back to that later.
The back of his hat is pretty smooth, other than that there isn’t really much to say here.
His base hooks securely around his tail and there’s a plastic piece that goes down between his legs to hold him stable. Best nendo base so far.
Adding on to the awesomeness of this base in particular it just so happens to be shaped like his hat. That’s way fun.
If the character and awesome base weren’t enough though you can also pose Jack sitting back leisurely. Way cute. Switching out his arms can be a bit of a pain though, they fit very snug and thus are hard to change.
When he’s in this pose his hands are flat behind him, also his tail acts as extra support to keep him upright.
He has a pointing hand that can be used for indicating himself or….
….scratching his chin in thought.
His only accessory is an ice-cube for casting level one bufu spells. The ice block comes with its own stand. Sadly it’s shaped like a circle.
I summon Jack Frost!
Which master should I choose?
The box is unsurprisingly covered in snowflakes. I also like the fade out effect on some of them.
The back of the box shows various posing options.
Overall even as simple as he is this toy is still a lot of fun. He’s probably my favorite nendoroid so far. However he does have a few downers, because his body is white scuffing him wouldn’t be hard, he’s really bad for parts hunters since he doesn’t have accessories, and changing the arms is difficult. I think he’s worth it though.
