After the huge disappointment that was the overall design of Killua’s GEM statue, I decided to save myself 60 bucks and buy myself the far less horrifying Banpresto DX prize figure.
Killua’s hair is awesome, it looks like a perfectly uncontrollable mess. I love the spikes all over the place, especially the way his bangs fall into his eyes. It’s cute. His eyes look extremely mischievous to me. However I think the look is slightly marred by his mouth. There’s something about Killua’s smile that just throws me off in its entirety. I think it’s in part to the pink used between his lips to define said mouth.
Killua’s shoulders are hunched down, the pose and the way his hands are buried in his pants is quite childish in nature. The wrinkles on his undershirt do a great job of making it look like his clothes are way too large.
His shorts fall naturally around his legs. His right leg looks a bit unnatural though, I think the calf muscle looks like it’s up too high or maybe it’s just that it doesn’t indent enough at the knee.
His shoes look phenomenal, all cute and bubbly! The paint job here is really good too, not a line out-of-place.
The seam lines at his sleeves are overly obvious, but could just be passed off as being part of the shirt so that’s not really a big deal. The hair on he side of Killua’s head does a marvelous job of framing his face.
The crinkles on the overshirt are fabulous, they add nicely to Killua’s already childish disheveled appearance.
The folds at Killua’s thighs, hips, and crotch are all great too. Especially when you take into account the movement of his legs, as well as how his hands are shoved into his pockets. Good job Banpresto!
His shoes have a prominent heel on them, I love it when shoes aren’t just flat.
His back looks great. I like the crinkles around his shoulder blades. The back of his head looks pretty damn good too. The seam lines in his hair are barely even visible.
From the back Killua looks fine, it would have been great if his backside were a bit more detailed but no real complaints here.
His base is the same as the two Hunter X Hunter prize figures that came before him. Nice and simple with the name of the franchise displayed in full view.
In standard Banpresto fashion, there is no window on the box. It does however feature more than enough pictures of the figure to know exactly what you’re getting.
It also shows all four of the main cast on the back. They look great altogether.
Overall I think Killua is probably the second weakest figure in the set, Gon’s my least favorite I think. Even then though he still looks pretty good and is well worth the small price to pay for him!
