Sky High Deformeister and Tiger & Bunny Mini Cups

Everyone has a favorite super hero, wether it’s the classic hero like Superman or Captain America, or the more off the wall joker like Nightcrawler or Spiderman, heck even the gruff guys like Batman have their fanbases.Everyone has a favorite. But suppose you like more then one, what about the off chance that you like all the X Men, well that’s when buying merch gets pricey….But not for T & B. They make it nice and easy for you with their new mini tea cups. They come in two lowpriced sets that between them feature the full team of heroes and two bonus villians as well.

The first set features Kotetsu T. Kaburagi, Karina Lyle, Antonio Lopez, Nathan Seymour, and evil red eye version Kotetsu.

The back of the box shows what the full picture on each one actually looks like.

The first mug is of the Wild Tiger himself, Kotetsu. The little cup features an unhappy picture of Kotetsu (he does not look pleased at all) with his super suit in the background. His hero name ‘Wild Tiger’ is written cross the cup and his logo is shown over the name.

I really don’t like the expression on this Kotetsu’s face he looks….kind of wicked. The original Wild Tiger outfitted Kotetsu can be seen in the background looking fairly vapid. As with the previous mug the hero name and logo are present.

I think Karina Lyle is supposed to be looking sexy here with her slightly parted lips and large doe eyes, but at the same time she looks kind of pissy. In the background is her hero counterpart ‘Blue Rose’ and surrounding her name you can see tiny little snowflakes.

Whereas I’m actually a pretty big fan of Mr. Nathan Seymour here, I can honestly say I’m not too fond of this particular cup. I understand that you need red behind ‘Fire Emblem’ but Nathan doesn’t stand out very well against it. His name has flames leaping from it.

Antonio Lopez aka Rock Bison glowers at you from his cup. He looks pretty pissed off. His suit can be seen clearly in the background and around his name there are little punched holes. Don’t worry they aren’t real holes, just painted that way. It’s a very cute touch.

Set two has an all star lineup, it features: Barnaby Brooks Jr., Yuri Petrov, Ivan Karelin, Keith Goodman, and Huang Pao-Lin.

As with the previous box this one shows the full mug pictures. They look great!

And here for the first cup of set two we have Barnaby Brooks Jr. looking super serious. He stands out very well against the red background. His super hero name…Barnaby Brooks Jr. (not Bunny) is next to him, his deformed little logo is over top his name.

As with the other fire weilder Yuri Petrov doesn’t really stand out against his background either, however as the coolest anime villian in the last like five years I’m not really going to argue with any merchandising decisions they make on the guy. His name ‘Lunatic’ has blue flames coming off of it.

So far Keith Goodman, the king of heroes, is the only character who seems to understand merchandising, i.e. he’s the only one who’s been smiling so far. That’s quite charecteristic though, Keith almost always has a smile on his face and that’s displayed nicely here. His hero name ‘Sky High’ has cute little stars around it.

The master of photo bombing Ivan Karelin has no facial expression, I mean that. He doesn’t look happy, mad, sad, or anything else. It kind of looks like a drivers license photo. Stare straight ahead and don’t make any kind of expression….ok great. He could have tried harder. On a more fun note though his hero version is standing in the background with his back to you proudly showing off his sponsors. That’s the human billboard ‘Origami Cyclone’ at his best. His name is surrounded by shuriken.

Huang Pao-Lin on the other hand is smiling at you. And man does she look precious. Her hero form ‘Dragon Kid’ is in the background with her staff raised ready for action. Her name has cute purple flowers around it.

These cups are great merch for fans of T & B, they also look great with their deformeister counterparts. It makes for an adorable display.

And speaking of deformeisters I think I promised a review of my personal favorite Sky High! Yep that was pure bias speaking there. Upon first glance he actually looks pretty good…at first glance. Upon looking at him a little bit closer however you start to notice the little things. There’s gold flecks between the bars on the faceplate, and the grey stripes between the gold bars on the left side aren’t painted at all. The details on his outfit itself though look really good. Ustream is printed very clearly on his chest, and all the paint stays within the lines. His raised arms show off the Tamashii Nations logo quite proudly.

His base shows the Poseidon Line Logo, it also holds him up admirably well so double bonus a working base and an advertisement.

The back of his head got off a whole lot luckier then the front did, probably because there aren’t as many places to mess up. You can see just a hint of it here but the gold tassles on his shoulders look great. The gold on his jet pack is pretty sloppy though.

He comes in a little trading figure box, and if your lucky enough to get him on your first try, he will only cost 475 yen. Nice. However for easier means he’s available on both Ebay and Amazon fairly cheap. In closing to Bandai for making such a cute little monster for me: Thank you and again thank you.

About Tekizen

I am a thirty two year old fujoshi. I adore Aniplex and Capcom both to a near criminal degree. I love cosplaying. Some of my favorites to date are Miles Edgeworth and Chrollo Lucifer. I am also currently working on Tatsuya Suou. My absolute favorite genre is mystery. I LOVE a good mystery. I have a varying degree of fandoms. I love a lot of different anime, but I can honestly say I love old school american cartoons just the same. My favorite book is The Bacta War in the Star Wars X Wing novel series. I finally beat the Demi-Fiend! He was freaking hard!. I think that's all for now though.
