It took forever, but patience wins out again. After 15 years of airing Detective Conan is finally getting a decent Sega prize figure. There was no way I could pass this up!

Conan Edogawa stands at just about 8 inches tall. To be perfectly honest I expected him to be much smaller. The pose chose for him is perfect. It’s almost as if he is declaring the culprit right in front of you.

His sculpt is very basic. His jacket has just enough folds to look natural, but not quite enough to look amazing. His shorts are even simpler. Complete with a pocket too small to fit his hand.

Conan’s trademark, strength boosting shoes are lacking in some of the finer details. The dial  on the side is nondescript, as are the laces on the front of his shoes. I also may be confused but have there always been four dials….?

His condemning right hand is sculpted well. Each finger is clearly defined. The digits you can see even have little fingernails.

Conan’s head looks really nice. His face looks perfect. It’s awesome that they captured his confidence in his smirk. His glasses are a separate piece that connects to his front hair piece. The clear plastic lenses make the eye glasses look realistic. Real as they may look, I assure you they are not prescription.

The seams in his hair are pretty bad. The one behind his bangs looks ok, but the one spanning from ear to ear is fairly bothersome. From a head on view it is hard to see, so at the very least it can be hidden.

The back of his head shows his little hair fin, and the ear pieces to his glasses. His spectacles really are a great touch.

The paint job could use quite a bit of work. Conan’s palette has always been simplistic, but even so, they could have done a better job. There are places where one color is seeping into a neighboring colors territory. An example would be his right sleeve. The blue & white appear to be at war.

His eyes are perfect. They are bright, and detailed. He even has little eye brows arching up under his hair.

Conan’s stands atop a simple brick patterned round base. The pegs on his feet are large, and fit snuggly into the base. It seems there is little chance of breakage here.

The box the figure comes in is covered in a blue, brick pattern, with a silhouette of Conan on either side. Simple, and effective. The front has a large picture window, perfect for viewing him in the box. Inside he is protected by plastic shelling.

The back shows all the copyright info, and legal tid bits.

Overall I am very pleased with Sega’s offering here. Hopefully more Detective Conan figures will follow.

This is lot more decent than my Conan “Full Score of Fear” figure. Are you getting his nendoroid petite as well?

    • Topiki says:

Yeah. I have a proxy holding the blue petite for me. I gotta wait for a couple more items. I am really glad Conan is getting some quality figure love!
